Training shorts are the loose, lightweight off-mat short for conditioning, the weight room, and camp-week dryland — quick-dry knit with mesh panels, worn over the compression shorts. Practice shorts are the loose short for in-room drilling and live goes. Compression shorts are the form-fitted poly-spandex base layer worn skin-tight under the singlet (and the top of a two-piece competition set). Use training shorts for running and lifting off the mat; use compression shorts under the singlet for competition. They layer together — compression underneath, training short over.
Training shorts run a relaxed mid-thigh cut, roughly a 7-9 inch inseam depending on size, loose enough to layer over compression shorts. Because these are an off-mat conditioning short — not worn in live wrestling where pockets snag — they can include side pockets if your program wants them for the weight room and gym; just specify during design. We provide a measurement guide so you can size each athlete accurately.
