The compression shirt is a form-fitted poly-spandex base layer worn skin-tight under the singlet (and can serve as the top of a two-piece competition set). Use the performance shirt as the everyday practice-room workhorse; use the compression shirt when you want a tight base layer or a two-piece competition top. They are different garments, not interchangeable.
Choose the short-sleeve performance shirt for warm practice rooms and summer camp weeks where you want to vent heat during high-rep drilling. Choose the long-sleeve version for cold gyms and early-season conditioning, or for full-arm coverage.
