Custom Softball Quarter-Zip Pullovers

The quarter-zip is built from a moisture-wicking performance polyester, not the cotton-poly fleece used on our crewneck sweatshirt and hoodies. That fabric difference is the key one. Because the quarter-zip is a high-polyester fabric, it accepts full dye-sublimation the same way our jerseys do — the team colorway, color-block paneling, pinstripes, and graphics dye-fuse permanently into the cloth. The cotton-rich fleece layers cannot be sublimated (sublimation only bonds to polyester), so they are limited to screen printing, embroidery, and tackle twill. The quarter-zip gets all four methods: sublimation plus tackle twill, embroidery, and screen printing. The trade-off is warmth and feel: the cotton fleece layers are heavier and warmer with the classic sweatshirt hand-feel, while the quarter-zip is a lighter, sleeker performance layer better suited to active warm-ups and the stop-start rhythm of the game than to standing-around dugout warmth.

The quarter-zip is purpose-built for the stop-start rhythm of softball. The four-inch zip at the collar gives a player on-field temperature control without removing the layer: crack it open during active warm-ups or a warm inning to dump heat, seal it up in the dugout or on a cold morning to trap it. The wind-resistant stand-up collar seals the neckline against the breeze on open outdoor fields. A full-zip hoodie opens completely (better for fully removing the layer or wearing it open all game), and a pullover hoodie has no zip at all (warmest and simplest). The quarter-zip sits in between — it stays on through the whole game while letting the player fine-tune temperature, which is why it is the favorite of pitchers and players who are constantly cycling between active and resting. It is also the most dress-up-able of the layers, reading cleanly over a polo for coaches and staff.

Our softball sideline layers split into two fabric families.

• Performance polyester (sublimation-ready): the quarter-zip pullover (this product) — a lighter, sleeker collared layer with quarter-zip temperature control, takes all four decoration methods including full sublimation.
• Cotton-poly fleece (warmer, not sublimated): the crewneck sweatshirt (hood-free, cleanest front canvas), the pullover hoodie (hooded, kangaroo pocket, no zip), and the full-zip hoodie (hooded, full front zip, easiest on-off) — all decorated with screen printing, embroidery, and tackle twill.

Choose the quarter-zip for an active, sleeker performance layer that can be fully sublimated in team colors; choose a fleece layer for heavier dugout warmth and the classic sweatshirt feel. Many programs order both: a quarter-zip for game-day warm-ups and a hoodie or crewneck for cold-weather dugout warmth.

Four decoration methods on the performance-polyester quarter-zip: sublimation (full-panel team colorway, color-block paneling, and piping dye-fused into the fabric), tackle twill (sewn felt/twill team name or player names and numbers), embroidery (dimensional left-chest crest or logo), and screen printing (opaque sponsor marks). The quarter-zip is the one sideline layer that takes full sublimation, because it is a high-polyester performance fabric rather than cotton fleece.
