Custom Ice Hockey Shells

A hockey shell (also called a practice pinnie or practice jersey shell) is a lightweight open-mesh pull-over worn over the shoulder pads during practice. It's the fastest way to organize a practice: a coach hands out two or three shell colors to split the roster into lines or teams for drills, scrimmages, and station work, so players can tell at a glance who's on which side. Because it pulls on and off over full shoulder pads in seconds, teams swap colors between drills without removing gear. It is NOT a game jersey — it has no fight strap, no reinforced impact zones, and no pad-compatible tailored cut; it's an oversized mesh layer built purely for practice identification. Two methods: sublimation and screen printing. Sublimation dye-fuses the team color, logo, and any color-blocking permanently into the open-mesh polyester so it never cracks or fades through daily-wash drill rotation. Screen printing handles large identification numbers and simple team marks that read clearly from across the rink. Tackle twill and embroidery are NOT used on shells — the open-mesh weave has too little solid surface area to anchor sewn-on twill patches or embroidery stitching (the stitches pull through the mesh holes), and a practice shell doesn't need that level of finish. All decoration is included in the flat per-shell price with no setup fees and no per-color charges.

Order the player's normal jersey size — the shell is already cut oversized to pull on over shoulder pads, so you don't need to size up. The whole point of the shell is a loose, fast-on/fast-off fit over a full set of shoulder pads, so the cut runs generous through the chest and shoulders by design. Players between sizes can stay with the smaller size for a trimmer look or the larger size for maximum pull-on speed. Goalies typically take the largest adult size for clearance over chest-and-arm protector bulk. Mixed sizes and youth/adult combinations are welcome within a single team order at no extra cost.
