Order custom ice hockey compression base layers engineered to sit against skin under every pad, shoulder to shin. Poly-spandex 92/8 four-way stretch knit body with flatlock seams, moisture-wicking construction, and anti-odor treatment keeps players dry, chafe-free, and fresh shift after shift under shoulder pads, elbow pads, rib pads, and breezers. Made to order with team colors, crest, and numbers sublimated into the fabric at one flat price — sublimation and screen printing only, because tackle twill and embroidery patches sewn onto a stretch knit crack with repeated stretch cycles and chafe uncomfortably against skin under pad pressure.
Every base layer is designed, printed, and sewn in-house — not a blank catalog layer with heat-pressed logos slapped on top — so your team crest sublimates directly into the knit on the same production run as the rest of your hockey kit and color-locks to the team identity. Two decoration methods carry on hockey compression base layers — sublimation dye-fuses the team colors, crest, and player numbers permanently into the poly-spandex 4-way stretch knit; screen printing handles single-color sponsor or league marks where pad pressure is light. Tackle twill and embroidery are NOT used: sewn-on twill patches crack on 4-way stretch under repeated stretch cycles, and embroidery thread bunches uncomfortably against skin under shoulder-pad, elbow-pad, and rib-pad compression. All decoration is included in the per-shirt price with no setup fees and no per-color charges.

Team colors, crest, player names, numbers, and full-body color blocking dye-fused permanently into the 4-way stretch knit. Unlimited colors at the same per-shirt price; sublimation becomes part of the fiber itself with no surface bumps, no chafing under pads, and no stretch failure. When ordered alongside jerseys, the visible sleeve cuff and collar color-lock to the jersey trim from the same dye batch.

Opaque single-color sponsor patches, league insignia, and secondary placements applied on top of the sublimated base in low-pad-pressure zones (chest center, upper sleeve). Multi-color designs welcome — all color setup is included in the flat per-shirt price with no per-color upcharge.

Everything you need to know about Custom Ice Hockey Compression Base Layers
Three jobs at once. (1) Chafe prevention: the poly-spandex 4-way stretch knit and flatlock seams sit smooth against skin so the rigid foam edges of shoulder pads, elbow pads, rib pads, and breezer waistbands don't rub raw spots through a 60-minute game. (2) Moisture management: the moisture-wicking finish pulls sweat off skin and into the knit where it can evaporate through the gaps between pad panels, rather than pooling against skin and waterlogging the pad foam. (3) Warmth retention: rinks run cold (typically 50-60°F ice surface temperature) and the compression knit traps a thin layer of warm air against the body without adding the bulk of a sweatshirt under pads. Anti-odor antimicrobial treatment built into the fabric extends fresh-wear cycles between washes — important when full-pad gear gets sweat-soaked every session.
Two reasons, both substrate-driven. (1) Stretch failure: tackle twill is sewn onto fabric as a patch. On a 4-way stretch knit that flexes every direction with every stride, the twill patch and the surrounding stitching crack and pucker after repeated stretch cycles — the twill stays rigid while the knit moves around it. (2) Under-pad chafe: embroidery thread sits raised above the fabric surface. Under shoulder-pad strap pressure or rib-pad compression, raised thread bunches and digs into skin within the first few shifts. Sublimation solves both: the color becomes part of the fiber itself with no surface bump, no chafe, no stretch failure mode. Screen printing works in low-pad-pressure zones (chest center, upper sleeve) where the ink layer doesn't catch under pad straps. For our hockey game-day jerseys we use the full 4-method toolkit including tackle twill (those are worn OVER pads on a stable knit, so the constraints don't apply) — see Custom Ice Hockey Game Day Home Jerseys or Away Jerseys.
Order true-to-size for compression fit, or size up for a looser fit. The Custom Ice Hockey Compression Base Layers run true-to-size for a snug compression feel against skin — that snugness is what delivers the chafe-prevention and moisture-management benefits described above, so most players prefer true-to-size. Players who run between sizes should choose the smaller size for compression feel or the larger size for a less aggressive squeeze. Goalies often size up one because the loose-fit feels less restrictive across the chest-to-glove reach. Mixed sizes are welcome within a single team order at no extra cost — confirm individual preferences before submitting the roster sizing sheet.
There's no minimum order quantity for the Custom Ice Hockey Compression Base Layers — order as few as 1 shirt for an individual player, or scale up through our volume tiers (1-24, 25-50, 51-100, and 101-500+) for lower per-shirt pricing as your order grows. Free shipping is included on every order, regardless of size. Mixed sizes and youth/adult combinations are welcome within a single order at no extra cost.
Standard production and delivery for your custom Ice Hockey Compression Base Layers is 3 weeks from the time you approve the final design mockup — that timeline covers design creation, full-body sublimation of the poly-spandex 4-way stretch knit, optional screen-printed sponsor or league marks, flatlock seam construction, quality inspection, and shipping to your door. Rush production is available for training-camp dates or season-opener deadlines — contact us before ordering to confirm an expedited timeline.
