Football jackets are usually called letterman jackets or varsity jackets. Both names mean the same jacket, and the letterman name comes from the chenille letter a player earns. Chenille patches are included on every Custom Football Varsity Jacket we make.

No — chenille patches and embroidery are both included in the jacket price, not add-ons. Chenille covers the front-chest letter, the back-panel mascot or school-name patch, sleeve patches (championship years, award stripes, captain bars), and any custom-shaped chenille element your program wants laid into the design. Embroidery covers player names, jersey numbers, graduation years, position and fine details. The price you see covers the wool body, genuine leather sleeves, quilted satin lining, chenille patches, embroidery and the design mockup. No per-patch charge and no setup fee. The price also changes with order quantity (volume tiers) and any premium upgrades you request.

The classic Custom Football Varsity Jacket uses a snap-button front — the traditional letterman closure with five or six metal snap buttons down the placket. This is the look that's been worn by varsity programs for over a century and is what most schools order. If your program prefers a full-zip front (a more modern athletic look, easier on/off, no snaps to break), we can build that instead at no extra cost — just specify at design submission. Both versions use the same wool body, genuine leather sleeves, ribbed knit collar/cuffs/waistband, and quilted satin lining. The snap-front is the default; the zip-front is the modern alternative.

Direct embroidery on the Custom Football Varsity Jackets covers the personalization elements that change player-to-player: PLAYER NAME (usually on the front-right chest opposite the chenille letter, or on the back yoke under the school name), JERSEY NUMBER (chest or sleeve), GRADUATION YEAR (sleeve or chest, often inside the chenille letter), POSITION (sleeve), and CAPTAIN / ALL-CONFERENCE / ALL-STATE designations (sleeve or chest). The school name and mascot are typically done as chenille patches (raised felt) rather than embroidery for the heritage look, but small or fine-detail logos can be embroidered if chenille won't hold the detail. We lay all of it into the mockup so you approve the exact placement before production — every jacket can be individually personalized within a single team order at no extra cost.

Sublimation and screen printing are not used on this product because the wool body and genuine leather sleeves don't take dye-based or ink-based printing. You also choose the body and sleeve color combination, the closure style (snap-button or full-zip), and classic-vs-modern styling.
