Custom Football Gloves

Yes — the silicone grip palm on the Custom Football Gloves is calibrated to meet NFHS (National Federation of State High School Associations) and NCAA tackiness and safety standards. NFHS Rule 1-5-2c and the NCAA glove rule both cap palm tackiness using the SATRA TM 144 grip test — the gloves we supply stay inside that threshold so they're game-legal from the first snap to the championship round. Officials can spot-test gloves at any point during a game and may remove non-compliant gloves; ours pass that test by design. We do not produce 'over-tack' or aftermarket-sprayed gloves that violate the rules — the grip you see in the box is the grip you wear.

The Custom Football Gloves use a high-tack silicone grip palm — the same construction class as the Nike Vapor Jet / Cutters Rev / Under Armour F8 line that the receiver position has standardized on for the last decade. Silicone holds ball control better than smooth leather in wet, cold, and humid conditions because the surface texture grips the ball cover rather than relying on surface friction alone. Compared to all-rubber palms, silicone is lighter, more flexible at the finger flex zones, and doesn't stiffen up below freezing. The palm pattern wraps the high-contact areas (fingertips, base of thumb, web of hand) so the catch surface is consistent every time the receiver gets a hand on the ball.

Football gloves size by hand circumference, NOT by body height/weight (which is why this product page doesn't include the standard apparel chest/waist/hip sizing chart). To size: measure around the widest part of the dominant hand at the knuckles (excluding the thumb), in inches. Youth: YS (6.5"-7"), YM (7"-7.5"), YL (7.5"-8"). Adult: S (8"-8.5"), M (8.5"-9"), L (9"-9.5"), XL (9.5"-10"), XXL (10"+). When in doubt, size up — too-tight gloves cut circulation through long sideline series and restrict full finger extension on a catch. Most varsity programs order one size for skill positions (typically M or L), one size for linemen (typically L or XL), and one size each of XS and XXL for outliers.

The Custom Football Gloves are decorated on the polyester backhand with two methods: sublimation prints unlimited-color graphics — team colors, logos, player numbers, mascots — directly into the fabric (no print layer to crack or peel), and screen printing handles cost-effective single-color graphics. Tackle twill and embroidery are not used on this product because sewn-on heavyweight patches cannot survive the glove's flex zones — they crack at the knuckle gussets and lift at the finger seams. The high-tack silicone palm is the catch surface and is not decorated.
