USAV and NFHS uniform rules require that any visible undergarment (including compression shorts worn under a teammate's looser shorts or worn as a visible volleyball short by liberos in some leagues) must match the team's primary uniform color or be the same color across the whole roster. Custom poly-spandex compression shorts solve this by shipping in the team's exact sublimated colorway — the same colors as the matching jersey, sublimated permanently into the fabric. Programs ordering compression as the primary short get team-color compression for the whole roster in one production run; programs ordering compression as the under-layer get black or a contrasting team-color compression that satisfies the visible-undergarment-color-match rule.
